Day 52
So, you’ll notice there was some intermission. Andy and myself got busy with the craziness that is life but we’re still trucking along, just not in blogged fashion as should be custom. But, fear not, after an for-now-to-remain-unnamed spokesperson took a haymaker to the jawbone for telling people of our ambitions only for them to discover our unannounced intermission, we’ve had a new fire lit.
On with the point though.
I’ve been holding off as I wanted to have a polished, finished first panel made based on the script Andy wrote. But, noooo, my perfectionist side wouldn’t let me get things done so I spent the last week or so drawing and redrawing things until I felt insanity creeping out of the eraser-shavings scattered about my drawing table. You can tell that the top half has been done for a while, with the faded and phantom lines scattered about the bottom half. I had a helluva time making Robbie run in that 3rd row. He looks way older in that pane too because I couldn’t get the dimensions right for his torso (needs to be shorter and not lanky-looking) but I’ve decided I’m going to let it slide because, well, I don’t need another spokesperson getting busted chops because I can’t get over my drawings having sporadic growth spurts.
Really don’t like how his face is on the 2nd to last pane on the bottom row is either. Didn’t realize how hard it is to keep uniformity on faces until doing this. I have a huge respect for the skill it has to take to draw and redraw the same face 1000 times in the same way so it’s recognizable visually.
So, it’s not done, it’s not even inked or touched up and the monologue is absent but, this my friends is what I shall call for now a “skeleton panel”. Look for something similar to this soon but in a much sexier finish.
